Join a librarian listserv, which is a method of communicating with a group of people via email. You can find your state library listserv here.
Classroom Management is essential to master. Grab some tips here from a previous post.
Make friends with the other school specialists especially the gym teacher because they are often seen as a hero at school. Work with the gym teacher so he/she can model to the students how to respect their library time as class time.
Remind yourself you are not wasting your time reading aloud to the students. Reading aloud facilitates literacy. Have your principal call Lisa personally if they think otherwise. ☺
Build relationships with everyone on campus. When you have someone you don’t connect with, don’t fight it. You’re not going to be beloved by everyone.
Don’t give up before the miracle happens. Hang in there with tough classes.
Know that the work of the library is as essential as every other class at school.
Every school librarian has the job of library advocacy.
