The Librarian Influencer of the Week is Pennsylvanian librarian Jennifer Newcome. She was a special education teacher for many years. Here are some librarian influencer tips Jennifer shared:
Take care of yourself and know the job will still be there for you tomorrow.
Keep in touch with your professional network.
If you are not a tech person, let someone else (like a library assistant or colleague) take over your library social media account.
Jennifer wants to encourage librarians to take care of kids and let them know you care about them as people and learners.
Attend your students’ events so they know you care.
Schedule a Google Meet with students who are struggling.
Be interested in what your students are interested in.
Once they know you are interested, you can hook them with books and the knowledge that libraries can help them throughout their lives.
