Here are some Librarian Influencer strategies Brandi shared:
She mapped out her initial plans when she began her first library job identifying what could realistically be accomplished during 3-5 years.
Set realistic expectations when you start out - like collaborating with one teacher in each grade level or department.
Know how to decline opportunities graciously that aren’t a good match for you and the plan you are developing for the library..
Learn how to communicate with your principal in a give and take way.
Put students at the center of your focus.
These are some leadership tips from Brandi:
Leaders should model vulnerability and realize the impact their decisions have on others.
Be supportive of your administrators. They need a lot of support from you as they continue to navigate through this pandemic.
Learn to be a risk taker, in a good way.
Be a good listener. Find out what your principal’s pain point is and work to solve thor problems.
Get in the trenches and work alongside those you lead.
Aim for influence with those you lead, not power.
