It's Time for an Inspection of the Plane You've Built

Updated: Apr 25, 2020

Hi, everyone

You've probably heard somebody describe remote learning like this - educators are building the plane while they are flying.

I dare say at this point, the plane is built and many of you are flying beautifully. I invite you this weekend to step back and reflect on this awesome plane you have helped build. You're going to see some things running smoothly and some things that might need to go back to the drawing board.

Download a fillable form here. (You'll see it in Google Drive and then you can click the download button.) Spend some time thinking about these things. The good and the not so good. Nothing is bad!

Thinking back to the analogy. It does leave out one part of your experience. You have basically been in a lab setting where your every move has been watched and critiqued. So go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back. If you are lucky enough to be at home with someone you love, ask them for a big bear hug. And squeeze them back hard!! Then exhale slowly and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Take care!

Dr. Laura

Give yourself some quiet moments and listen to librarian Amy Andrews as she reflects on the transition from a fixed to flexible schedule. Listen here.
