Explore the Idea of “Library Unlimited Classes” in the Library: with Jeanette Walter

Updated: Dec 6, 2019

The Librarian Influencer of the Week is librarian Jeanette Walter from Pennsylvania. She hesitantly moved into the school library world and loved how she got to reach every child in every school and bring out their curiosity.

In this podcast, Jeanette recalls her initial naivete in what it meant to run a library.

  • Budget

  • Cataloging books

  • She held to her belief that her priority had to be the kids.

Here are a couple of Librarian Influencer strategies Jeanette shared:

  • You can help steer the ear of people in charge when you serve on committees and are in leadership roles.

  • She plans to create videos to help teachers since she can’t get into the classrooms as much to help anymore.

My chat with Jeanette was very, very fun! She started Library Unlimited classes with her students to allow the kids to be creative. The librarians provide stations for the kids to select from.

  • Legos

  • 3D Doodlers

  • LittleBits

  • Read/Write

  • Cricut machine for the students to use
