Here are some librarian influencer tips Heather shared:
Heather encourages librarians to consider continuing their education and become a professor in library science if it's something they are truly interested in.
Get to know your collection, your students, your community, and who you work for.
Realize you are a technology leader and a literacy leader.
Do the best you can your first year to learn about your collection and build relationships.
Heather wants to encourage librarians to take a closer look at accessibility.
The pandemic has shown a light on a lot of inequities in our society, and education in particular.
Librarians led the way during the pandemic. They transitioned to virtual and socially distanced face-to-face smoothly.
We are a creative group and we learn to figure things out by ourselves and with the network we build.
We’ve helped students who need access to the learning their peers are getting.
Video captioning is one way you can improve accessibility. YouTube will caption your videos automatically.
Kapwing will caption your videos for Teams, Edmodo, etc.
Add “alt text” to images you use so screen readers will describe the images to your audience.
